The train to Kanchanaburi

Kanchanaburi is renowned for the iconic Bridge over the River Kwai at its center. Originally part of the rail link between Thailand and Burma, the historic bridge stands as a symbol of the city.
While Kanchanaburi has a railway station, it’s paradoxically not directly connected to the main Bangkok station but rather to a branch station, Thonburi (located on the west side of the Chao Phraya).
Due to this arrangement, there are limited trains to Kanchanaburi, and notably, the carriages are only 3rd class. Despite the rudimentary comfort, the journey retains the charm of this historical railway line.

To purchase tickets, visit the station and buy them on the day of your journey. Reservations are not available for 3rd class trains.
