The shuttles between Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports
All the information you need on the shuttles between Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang airports in Bangkok: timetable, frequency, where to take them, advice etc.
For many travellers, Bangkok is not the end of the trip but only a stopover on the way to another destination. Many people have to go to another airport to catch their connecting flight and that can sometimes be a challenge. The distance between the Suvarnabhumi airport – which is for international flights only – and the Don Mueang airport – which deals mostly with national flights – is quite significant.
Transferring from one to the other on time is thus a necessity and can be fairly stressful. Thankfully, a shuttle exists to facilitate the process.
From Suvarnabhumi to Don Mueang airport
The shuttle is quite easy to find. All you need to do is read the signs “Airport Shuttle Bus”. They will lead you to the second floor, gate 3, where the shuttle is located.
Outside is a small information desk. This is where the staff is supposed to control transferring passengers’ tickets, boarding passes or reservations. In reality, most of the time they just sit there and observe. Just go through with your luggage.
The shuttle is free and will leave you at departures in Don Muang, on the 4th floor, gate 5. Don Muang used to be the international airport and is much smaller than Suvarnabhumi. It is thus very easy to find your way there.

Timetable, duration, frequency
It’s always a little difficult to assess how long it will take the shuttle to drive from one airport to the other. Different factors have to be taken into account: the traffic (between 7 am and 9 am and between 5 pm and 9 pm) and the weather conditions (particularly during the rainy season). The official figure given is 50 minutes, but it can take longer depending on the two factors mentioned above.
The timetable of departures of the shuttle is identical every day.

Information on the shuttles
The shuttles are free for all passengers who need to transfer to the other airport. They have air-conditioning and storage for your luggage. The shuttles can be full quite quickly. If there is no room, you will have to wait for the next one. Even when there is a lot of people waiting, no extra shuttle will be made available. The only thing to do is to be patient.
In case you cannot take a shuttle for a reason or another (for example you arrive in Bangkok late), you have two options:
- Taxis which are more expensive – still cheap in comparison with Europe – but faster.
- The minivans
