Museum Pier Bangkok: A New Cultural Space by the Chao Phraya
Right on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, the Museum Pier Bangkok aims to blend art, history, and stunning river views in a modern cultural space.
A New Museum on the Chao Phraya
Recently opened, the Museum Pier Bangkok stands directly on the Chao Phraya River, offering panoramic views of both the waterway and nearby historic architecture.
The building combines sleek modern design with subtle traditional touches, featuring large, bright interiors and outdoor terraces.
It positions itself as a destination for both casual visitors and art enthusiasts looking for a fresh cultural experience in the Thai capital.

Temporary Exhibitions: Ever-Changing Content
At this stage, Museum Pier Bangkok does not yet hold a substantial permanent collection. Its cultural program focuses mainly on temporary exhibitions: photography, contemporary art, immersive installations, and thematic displays.
The themes often highlight Thai contemporary artists or current social topics. Exhibitions rotate every few months, making each visit unique. Checking the museum’s official website or social media before visiting is highly recommended to know what’s on.
Exhibition from 1 July to 2 November 2025
The Pier Museum’s second major exhibition is dedicated to the dinosaurs of Siam!
The Thainosaur exhibition will be open to the public until 2 November, featuring several life-size specimens and information sheets (in English) to help visitors understand the fauna that inhabited Siam during this period. An educational exhibition.

Our Opinion
The Museum Pier Bangkok enjoys a superb riverside location and is a pleasant stop for those exploring the Chao Phraya area. However, the exhibition space is currently rather small, which might disappoint visitors expecting a full-scale museum experience.
The biggest drawback is the threefold ticket price difference between foreigners and Thais. This policy is undoubtedly counterproductive, as many people are likely to decide not to visit.
FAQ
Is Museum Pier Bangkok worth visiting?
If you enjoy riverside views and contemporary exhibitions, it’s worth a look — but manage your expectations regarding the size of the display.
Why do foreigners pay more than locals?
Differential pricing is common in Thailand, though here the gap (three times the local price) stands out given the limited exhibition space.
How long should I plan for a visit?
About 45 minutes to 1 hour should be enough to explore the museum and enjoy the view.
