Krabi, how to come and go? How to move?

Krabi Town being the center of the province, there are several means of transportation. Overview of all possibilities to come and go, and to move in Krabi.

Between the plane, the buses, the mini-vans, the train station of Surrat Thani, the boats, it is easy to come and leave from Krabi.


Planes to Krabi from Bangkok

Fastest transportation makes it easy to find tickets from Bangkok. Some companies offer flight + hotel combos at big discounts.

Note: Most planes depart from Don Mueang Airport.

Krabi International Airport is 15 km from the city center. You can get to the city center by taxi, minibus, songthaew (the blue, see below) or shuttle.

The trip from the city center to the airport is approximately 20 to 30 minutes. The price goes from 90 to 150 baht depending on the stop.

Thai Airlines Going to Krabi

The main airline Air Asia, it is extremely well positioned in domestic lowcost Thai flights. Many promotions all year 

 

Nok Air has daily flights to Krabi. Many times in the year, we can have discounts. 

Thai Lion Air has competitive prices. A company increasingly present in domestic flights. 

 

Planes and direct flights to Krabi from Europe

Several companies have specialized for “direct” flights to Krabi. By direct, this means that there is no need to stop in Bangkok.

Qatar Airways goes daily to Krabi and offers very competitive prices

Etihad also offers the possibility of going directly to Krabi without going through Bangkok. Saves time and fatigue. 

 

 


By Bus

The Krabi bus station is in the city center. It is an international bus station. You can take buses and minibuses.
To leave the station, there are songthaews. Most go to Ao Nang Beach

Travelers come to Krabi especially to go to the islands. There is a lot of possibility to go there. 2 things to know:

  • It is sometimes easier by going to Ao Nang Beach.

Trains (South Line) from / to Surat Thani

The train is the safest way to get around Thailand. It is also a unique experience. It’s not expensive, but expect to be late.
Once in Surat Thani, it is necessary to go to the bus station located in the center of Surat Thani.

Transportation in Krabi

It is easy to get around Krabi. Several means of transport can be used.
For example one can take a songthaew to get to Ao Nang Beach or the bus station.

The songthaew are of different colors. Each color corresponds to a specific path:

  • The white songthaew: bus terminal, Krabi town and Ao Nang Beach.Normally, the price is 50 Baht per person per way. Be careful, after 6:00 PM, an increase is made and the ticket goes to 60 baht.
  • Red songthaew: bus station at the Tiger Cave (20 bath)
  • The blue Songthaew: Krabi at the airport (via the pier)
Note: 
The songthaew stop when they are called and stop anywhere.
Prices are not negotiable.

The songtaews operate from sunrise to 9:00 PM. It is the most economical means of transport, but not the fastest.

Another way, the motorcycles-taxis, practical, fast it is better to use their services for short distances. The price of the race can rise very quickly.
Finally, tuk-tuk are very present in Krabi Town. Negotiation is required to set the price before leaving. To be used only for medium distances.
