Thailand’s Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning for October 21–25, 2026. Persistent rain, locally heavy to very heavy, is forecast in the South, while rainfall is expected to increase in Bangkok and the surrounding provinces, the East and parts of the Northeast. Flash floods, overflowing waterways and landslides are possible in vulnerable areas.

Which regions are affected?

The official forecast highlights several areas:

  • Bangkok and Central Thailand: Increased rainfall may cause localised flooding and delays on urban roads.
  • Eastern Thailand: Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat are among the provinces to watch, including routes towards Pattaya and the eastern coast.
  • Southern Thailand: Persistent rain, locally very heavy, is expected. Conditions may be particularly concerning in low-lying areas and near rivers or hillsides.
  • Lower Northeast and upper South: Rainfall is also forecast to increase in these areas.

Conditions will vary by province and day. The warning does not mean that every destination will experience severe weather throughout the period.

What does this mean for travellers?

Heavy rainfall can lead to sudden flooding, overflowing waterways and landslides, especially in low-lying areas and near foothills. Allow extra time for road journeys and check local conditions before setting off.

Sea conditions also require attention. The Meteorological Department warns that waves may exceed three metres in thunderstorm areas of the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. If you have a boat trip, island transfer or other marine excursion planned, check with your operator before departure.

The warning does not announce a nationwide transport shutdown. Any disruption will depend on local weather and road or sea conditions.

Where to check for updates

Check the latest forecasts from the Thai Meteorological Department before travelling. Avoid driving through floodwater and follow local authorities’ instructions in areas at risk of flooding or landslides.
