Private vehicle
Driving is the most flexible option. Travelers with their own vehicles won’t face any particular difficulties. Parking is generally easy to find. If you plan to visit the islands, long-term parking is available at the ferry piers (managed by the ferry companies).
Using Grab or Bolt
It is possible to book a ride to Trat with Grab. However, for the return trip, no Grab services operate in the Trat area. Grab vehicles are not authorized here, so you should arrange your return trip in advance to avoid any inconvenience.
As an alternative, you can take a minibus to Chanthaburi and then book a Grab or Bolt from there.

From Bangkok to Trat
By bus
Buses to Trat depart from Bangkok’s Ekkamai Bus Terminal (next to the BTS station, 50 meters from the exit). Buses are comfortable, though seats may feel cramped after a few hours.
By minibus
Minibuses are faster and depart frequently from Bangkok, almost every hour.
Note: Minibus space is limited. Travelers with large backpacks may need to purchase an extra seat.
Trat Bus Terminal
The Trat bus terminal is located a short distance from the city center. Songthaews are readily available for transfers. From the terminal, you can also take minibuses or songthaews directly to the ferry piers.
The bus terminal is basic, with limited food options. It’s best to buy snacks beforehand.
From Trat to Bangkok
Minibuses depart every hour back to Bangkok, with tickets costing around 300 Baht depending on the operator.
Other bus services from Trat connect to cities like Pattaya and Ban Phe.

Traveling from Trat to Cambodia
The Cambodian border is about 60-70 km from Trat, roughly one hour by minibus. Add extra time for border formalities including exit processing from Thailand and visa issuance for Cambodia.
The entire procedure takes approximately one hour, depending on the crowd and processing speed. Payments can be made in Baht or US dollars.
The Cambodian visa is valid for one month and renewable. Don’t forget passport photocopies and passport photos for the visa.
Border hours: open daily from 07:00 to 20:00.
Getting to Koh Kong – Cambodia
Koh Kong is located just 10 km past the Cambodian border and makes a good stopover.
