Bangkok-Cambodia by train

After a 45-year stop, it is possible since 1 July 2019 to travel from Bangkok to the Cambodian border by train. New road, new landscapes to discover quickly!

The train from Thailand to Cambodia opens on July 1st. The line will be running for a few months. It’s all about opening a new channel of communication between the two countries. The aim is to develop tourism and facilitate cargo freight. During the first months of operation, there will be only two departures a day on each side.

Note:
Name of Thai Border Railway Station: Ban Khlong Luk located in Sa Kaeo Province

To Cambodia:

The journeys are made only in ordinary wagons of the third class. This means minimal comfort: no air conditioning and hard seats. But the ticket price per person is 49 Baht per person. Cheap !!! cheap !!!

Warning: the road is open from Bangkok to the Cambodian Border. To continue the trip to Phnom Penh, there will soon be connections. However, the train to the Cambodian capital will be very slow. It will take about ten hours.

In the future, the train will be in any case a great opportunity to stop for example on the side of Battambang and many small towns …
