Information and advice
Some tips before arriving on the island:
- Think about taking cash. There is no ATM. Hotels or restaurants accepting credit cards take large commissions on each transaction.
- Take mask and snorkel. It is possible to rent them on site. All items sold or rented on the islands are excessively expensive.
- Beware the prices change a lot between grocery stores. Example: a bottle of water bought at a supermarket in Kuta Bharu costs about RM 1, the same on the island goes from 3 to 7 RM.
- Think of going to a supermarket on the mainland to avoid spending too much.
- Do not forget your special Malaysia power adapter.
Some tips when you arrive on the island:
Danger for your feet:
Many boat ropes and fastening inks are planted on the beach. Every day, one or two clumsy or distracted tourists hurt themselves.
There is a “dispensary” on Kecil. If there is a big problem, there is a hospital in Kota Bharu.
