February 2019: events and festivals in Thailand

In February, there will be something to do in Thailand. 3 events will be held throughout the country and there will be many festivals in several cities. Ask the program!


This year, Galleries’Night will be held on Friday 1st and Saturday 2. A total of 50 galleries will open. Starting at 17h. the galleries will offer exhibitions and conferences. To go to each gallery, visitors can take tuk-tuks for free.

Chaing mai Flower Festival

As every year the festival will be the first week of February. The festival begins on the 1st until the 3rd. On the program: the big parade (on February 2nd) will leave the morning of Nawarat Bridge, concerts, dance shows, various exhibitions, stands, etc.

Chinese Lunar New year

This year, the Chinese New Year will be on February 5th. This will be the year of the pig!  The biggest parties will take place in Bangkok in the Chinatown district, but also in Chiang Mai, Phuket and Trang where Chinese communities have been present for generations.

Valentine’s Day

Ok this is not a traditional festival, but but Thai people love to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Romanticism of the 21st century !

  As always, it’will be February 14th. Good restaurants are to be booked in advance ….

Trang Underwater Wedding

In addition to Valentine’s Day, the wedding ceremony under water! Ok more commercial than that it’s difficult! Since the first ceremony in 1990, this special dive has become a very popular attraction … The wedding ceremony underwater is simple: we dive (bottled), 10 meters from the surface, a master of ceremonies waiting to sign a wedding bans … Divers are in wedding attire, dress … friends are waiting on the boat (no rice, it sticks)!

The festival of motorcycle and big engine is this year from 14 to 16 February in Pattaya. Program: concerts and motorcycles …

Balloon Festival

In Chiang Rai, the Singha Park Chiang Rai Balloon Fiesta will be from February 13 to 17. The entrance fee is – 100 baht – but it’s for a good project. Some of the money must be donated to organizations. The program: a customized balloon show from more than 15 countries (Switzerland, Japan, Brazil, United States, etc.), traditional Khon theater with episodes of Ramayana, etc.

Makha Bucha

This traditional Buddhist festival is one of the most important. This year, Makha Bucha is on Tuesday 19th.
